My middle name is Rosalie, so that is how ‘Sweet Rosalie’ got its start. 🙂

I have a background in interior design, and have always had a passion for design and the arts in general. Oddly enough and despite how much I love to bake, I prefer salty things over sweet the majority of the time. In fact, whenever I hit my ‘sweet limit’, I crave something salty like popcorn or potato chips. But of all types of baked sweets, I love cake the most, and one of my favorite parts about baking is designing unique and personal creations for whomever or whatever I am baking for. Packaging is also very important to me as I consider it all part of the sequence of experience, and seeing the joy that tasty baked goods bring out in people means a lot to me. 🙂

Along with the design of the flavors, appearance, packaging and sequential experience of all of this, the ‘section’ shots of these treats also intrigue me. You will see some of these now and then throughout the blog. Maybe it comes from the “interior” part of my background, but they provide an informative and interesting perspective as to how some of these things come together.

For layered cakes, I can see the shapes of each layer of cake (were they perfectly flat? did they droop?), tell if the cake has a crumb coating, or a frosting dam around the edges to contain the filling, and I can see the thickness of frosting, and whether cupcakes have an added filling and so on. Funny, because it’s a bit awkward to take a cake to a birthday party, or bridal or baby shower, and after the first slice is removed to make everyone wait while you get really close and take lots of pictures of… the cake you made?? But I’m always dying to know what it looks like. Unlike individual cupcake or cookie testers (think: extras to taste test that aren’t part of the final batch), you can’t just cut a sample slice from a cake to see before delivering to its destination. I have always just used simple point-and-shoot cameras, nothing fancier. Perhaps one of these days I’ll upgrade to a more professional camera to take more professional photos 🙂

Anyway, it’s my creative outlet and I get to share it with you here. 🙂

HELLO!
