Strawberry Dual-Birthday Cake

I discovered Rosie’s Sweetapolita baking website and fell in love with her strawberry layer cake recipe. The color is beautiful and the cake so fragrant. For the birthday cake that I made, I used Sweetapolita’s fancy Pastel Swirl frosting technique.

Having taken birthday treats to various restaurants before and not having an issue, it didn’t occur to me… but for this dual-birthday celebration at a local restaurant, we were told a cake cutting fee per person would be charged! We were already there though, and they cut the cake and served it for us.

that was delicious.

Since I ended up with a little extra batter, I made some mini cupcakes… love these little treasures, the colors, and white non-pareil sprinkles. 🙂

Baby Shower Cupcakes

A friend and I planned our friend Suzie’s baby shower together… we had fun planning the custom ‘Welcome’ board, and some themed refreshments and games. I originally saw these baby face cupcakes at another baby shower the month before and am still searching for those original images since I stole the inspiration! 🙂 We also decorated with more balloons and had a framed message board for guests to write notes to welcome Baby Han.

Silent Spritz

Who doesn’t love classic Spritz cookies!? So perfectly shaped and bite-sized. I wanted to contribute something to a friend’s silent auction, so I baked up a batch of both classic vanilla as well as some chocolate Spritz cookies and layered them in a transparent paint-like can from Michael’s with colorful papers.

Birthday Cupcakes

Using delicious Funfetti cake mix and frosting, I created these cupcakes for a friend’s birthday party! I made the cupcake flags by cutting out an elongated diamond shape (in this case, from cute Origami paper), and wrapping it in half around a toothpick. Then I glued the two pieces together and used a craft punch to make the star cutout and curled the paper with my thumb, and then Voila! Custom, colorful, fun cupcake flags for the occasion 🙂

Pansy cupcakes

These were a fun new challenge to tackle for a friend’s bridal shower! My friend loves flowers, so I knew incorporating real flowers into her special treat would be perfect. I think I could have done a better job had I allowed a little more time to let the flowers fully dry, but I think they still looked pretty and pretty tasty too 🙂
