Carrot Rose Topper Cupcakes

The only rose in/on these cupcakes is the shape of the carrot peel topper – no actual rose flavoring ๐Ÿ™‚ I recently saw this technique on a blog and decided they were far too cute not to try myself. Got myself some rainbow carrots with tops and went to work!

There’s only so much you can do photographing your baked goods with your camera phone when you have a little more time in the evening inside, under artificial lighting…

But I did snap this tupperware shot in the morning (better lighting!) of some of the cupcakes that went to work with me ๐Ÿ™‚ Loving the variety of cupcake and carrot rose topper sizes. ??

Happy Halloween 2017

A Mummy Halloween to you! I’ve made these little guys before, but made double batches again this year both for a neighbor’s party as well as a work potluck – Pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese mummy frosting and sugar eyeballs ๐Ÿ™‚

I actually initially made two batches of the same recipe I’ve used multiple times before and was not happy at all with them! I’m not sure if I did something different, or it was the difference of our convection oven… so found a new recipe and I was much happier with how they came out.

From plastic container….

… to full on fall layout! I love the oranges and greens in this image, along with the warm walnut stained display box that my Dad made for our wedding cupcakes ๐Ÿ™‚

April {Baby} Showers

Back in mid April, my department at workย hostedย our friend and co-worker an office baby shower! The shower was Norwegian themed to honor the Momma’s heritage and I baked orange cardamom cupcakes for the occasion. The Real Simple recipe I used called for a chocolate sour cream frosting, but in the end I felt like the chocolate was too much and overpowered the cupcake flavor. I ended up just making a simple cream cheese frosting andย I think the combination was successful. Yum!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I was inspired to use fresh berries for my Valentine bake and came across these lovely raspberries, and then the almond cupcakes and bittersweet chocolate ganache followed ๐Ÿ™‚ I look forward to getting a new camera someday soon, but for now, these camera phone photos will have to do!

1st Birthday Cupcakes in a Flash!

BirthdayCupcakesFlash_01

A friend of mine reached out to me in a panic and needed help decorating cupcakes for her son’s first birthday party in a jiffy! I brought some emergency sprinkles, supplies and a couple ideas, and Grandma, Mom and I decorated these babies (cupcakes, not the birthday boy) in a flash just before guests arrived!

Happy 1st birthday, Little George!
